The Middle East and North Africa region will lead the world in economic growth in 2022

The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) will be the only region in the world to see sustained growth this year, bucked by rising oil prices and an improving business environment, Qatar-based Tribune reported on February 7, citing a Fitch Ratings report.Fitch said in its report that it expects economic growth in the Middle East and North Africa region to rise to 4.3 percent in 2022 from 3.7 percent in 2021, due to higher oil production and continued recovery in the non-oil sector.Growth will be led by regional oil exporters, which are expected to grow 4.4 percent in 2022 and 3.5 percent in 2021.Moreover, economic growth in the Gulf states will rise to almost 5 per cent this year, outpacing north Africa and the Levant.Source: Economic and Commercial Section, Embassy in Qatar
